Job Description
Primarily responsible for the teaching/learning process and will also participate in the necessary operations of the institution. Work hours: Most courses will be taught during the evening in Waco, 6:30-9:15 PM, with other office hours as work and teaching requirements indicate. Teaching may be required online as needed. This is a nine-month, non-tenure track position at a 4-4 teaching load effective September 1, 2023, on the Waco campus.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesÂ
80% Teaching and Service: Develop, implement, and review effective teaching/learning processes, incorporating appropriate methodology, technology, and other tools; Remain current in discipline and update course content when appropriate to reflect current levels of student knowledge in the discipline; Develop a system for ongoing evaluation of both teaching and learning, including expectations of student competency and student learning outcomes; Exhibit a mature view of the academic discipline; Work in partnership with immediate supervisor through a formal system of evaluation of instruction to identify strengths and weaknesses and identify professional development activities to improve student learning. May be required to teach at other campuses online. Maintain an appropriate schedule of office hours for student access and inquiry;Â
Work in partnership with student success personnel on student advising and orientation. Participate in institutional service roles such as but not limited to, college committees, club sponsorship, advisory committees, student/faculty recruitment, and mentoring of new and part-time faculty.Â
20% Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity: Demonstrate a record of ongoing research, scholarship or creative activity appropriate to your academic discipline. Faculty are encouraged to obtain and maintain professional certification and external grant funding.
Minimum RequirementsÂ
Earned doctorate/terminal degree approved by the University and recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges with appropriate academic credentials verified by Tarletonâ™s faculty credentialing processes.Â
Preferred
Degree from an AACSB-accredited institution; CPA certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesÂ
Faculty in the rank of assistant professor shall have demonstrated academic and professional achievement. Those appointed to the rank of assistant professor will demonstrate teaching excellence, scholarly/creative attainment, and professional achievement both within and outside the university.Â
